Dr. Madeline Swenson is originally from Ottumwa, IA and attended high school in Cedar Rapids. She earned her bachelor’s and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Iowa. As a dental student, Dr. Swenson conducted research related to dental implants which she presented at meetings of the International Association for Dental Research and Academy of Osseointegration. She was awarded first place at international meetings for her poster and oral presentations. Dr. Swenson also received the University of Iowa College of Dentistry Research Achievement Award, Iowa Society of Periodontology Award and Dr. R.A. Greenawalt Award in Periodontics.

Dr. Swenson’s research experience and interest in oral surgery led her to pursue post-doctoral specialty training in Periodontics which she completed at the University of Iowa. Following graduation, she practiced periodontics for three years in the Des Moines area. Dr. Swenson’s practice covers the entire scope of periodontal therapy including: the treatment of gum disease, cosmetic and periodontal plastic procedures, bone and gum grafting, dental implant surgery, laser therapy and IV sedation.

Dr. Swenson is board-certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. She is a member of the Iowa Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology and
American Dental Association.

When out of the office, Dr. Swenson spends her time with her husband Ben and son
Rudy. She can never pass up an opportunity to participate in a friendly sports
competition and loves to spend time with family and friends, be outdoors, read, eat at
her favorite restaurants and cheer on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
